Craps bets - proposition bets

Proposition bets are the ones you can make in the middle of the table, and exist only on the 'next roll'. As one-roll bets they can produce thrilling and exciting games, which form an integral part of the craps experience. However, the house edge is exorbitant and you really shouldn’t ever make these bets if you are serious about winning. That’s not to say that you can’t have fun making them and sometimes you can go on a run of luck and walk away a winner. But the chances are, if you played long enough, you would lose fast.

These bets include:
"any seven" bet
"snake eyes" bet
"yo eleven" bet
"any craps" bet
"any three" bet
"midnight" 12 bet
"horn" bet

Any seven: Here, a player bets that the shooter will hit a 7 on the next roll. This pays off at 4-1 against true odds of 5-1, giving the house a 16.67% edge.

Snake eyes: A bet that the shooter will throw a two on the next roll. This pays off at 30-1 against true odds of 35-1, giving the house a 13.89% edge.

Yo eleven: A bet that the shooter will hit an 11 on the next roll. This pays off at 15-1 against true odds of 17-1, giving the house a 11.1% edge.

Any craps: A bet that the shooter will throw a 2, 3, or 12 on the next roll. This pays off at 7-1 against true odds of 8-1, giving the house an 11.1% edge.

Any three: A bet that the shooter will throw a 3 on the next roll. This pays off at 15-1 against true odds of 17-1, giving the house a 11.1% edge.

Midnight: A bet that the shooter will throw a 12 on the next roll. This pays off at 30-1 against true odds of 35-1, giving the house a 13.89% edge.

Horn: A bet that combines the snake eyes, any 3, yo 11, and midnight bets. You have to stake four times as much money and get 4 bad bets for your bucks so don’t bother!

Hardway bets
These differ from the other proposition bets in that they aren’t one-roll bets. When a player bets that a number will come up hard, he means that it will come up with two dice each of the same total. SO a hardway 4 is a 2 and a 2. If a 4 comes up with a 3 and a 1 it is an easy way and it defeats the hardway, as does any 7.

For a hard 4 and a hard 10, this type of bet pays off at 7-1 against true odds of 7-1, giving the house an 11.1% edge. For a hard 6 and a hard 9, this type of bet pays off at 9-1 against true odds of 10-1, giving the house an 9.09% edge. Either way, you shouldn’t go near them.
