Craps bets - pass line bet
A pass line bet must be made immediately
before the ‘come out roll’, which occurs
either before a shooter rolls the dice for the first
time or straight after he has made his ‘point’.
On the layout area, a round black and white disc will
be placed black side up in the ‘don’t come’
box in the corner of the numbered boxes to signal that
a come out roll is about to take place. The same disc
is placed white side up in one of the numbered boxes
on the layout to indicate that number is the point established
by the come out roll. When this is the situation, pass
line bets are not permitted.
To make this bet, simply place your chips on the area
marked pass line. If a 7 or 11 is rolled on the first
throw of a new game (the come-out roll), you win immediately
at even money. If you roll a 2, 3 or 12 (craps) you
lose immediately and are rather amusingly said to have
‘crapped out’.
If you roll any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10)
this will establish the shooter’s point. If a
point is established, then to win your bet, the shooter
must pick up the dice and continue to roll them until
either the point number is rolled again, or a 7 is rolled.
If the point number is rolled, you will win, while if
a 7 is rolled you will lose.
The shooter never looses his shoot on the come-out
roll – a point must be established first and the
shooter continues to throw the dice until either a 7
or the point number is rolled. Only then will a new
shooter take up the dice.
