Craps betting strategies - basic strategy
Craps is a simple game, but knowing which
bets to make at what point in the game can be a little
confusing. Before starting to throw money at a game,
you should either watch a game in a real casino, or
play online for free, in order to familiarise yourself
with all the different procedures.
Basic system
This system incorporates guidelines which - when possible
- should be incorporated into all other systems.
1. In order to lengthen your stay at the tables, always
make sure you have enough money to ensure you can spread
between your bankroll and bet size.
2. Divide your bankroll into several units.
3. If you lose your allotted bankroll for that session,
always walk away.
4. Only make bets that have a low casino advantage.
5. Following consecutive wins, increase your bets
6. Following a losing streak, never increase your bets
in order to catch up.
7. Set achievable goals and quit when you achieve them.
8. Have patience and accept that most of your time
at the table will be spent losing while you wait for
the opportunity to increase you bets.
Right bettors
If you are betting ‘with’ the dice, you
are known as a right bettor and will be hoping for 7’s
and 11’s on the come out roll, followed by repeating
numbers. Right bettors should focus on making a pass
line bet and then always take the maximum free odds
bet if a point is established. For players wanting a
little more action, you can also take one or two come
bets, again, coupling them with odds bets to the maximum
value. This is a cautious but steady approach which
should preserve your bankroll reasonably well and give
you a decent chance of winning. For those days when
long rolls seem to be occurring, you can also cover
the 6 or the 8 if they are not already bet. This leaves
the house with a bigger edge, but a bigger exposure
should lots point numbers repeat.
Wrong bettors
If you are betting against the dice, you are known
as a wrong bettor and will be hoping that there will
be 2s, 3s and 12s on the come-out roll, followed by
7s once the point has been established. You should only
ever make don’t pass bets coupled with single
odds laid against the point number. If you are feeling
increasingly aggressive, you can make one or even two
come bets and again lay single odds against the come
point. Never make any other bets.
